First Interstate Center
Client:
Morrison Knudsen, construction manager, and CM Company
Job Description:
Structural components of a major office building: embedment and penthouse spire. Pacific Steel Fabricators made and installed embedment plates that hold all the polished granite on the side of the building; and we fabricated the structural steel components for the distinctive First Interstate penthouse spire.
Challenge:
The challenge was coordinating with the general contractor and engineer on this complicated job to ensure that every piece met the stringent standards set by a world-class contractor: Morrison-Knudsen. The structural job was complicated: to fabricate that spire and get it into place and get the pieces right and interfacing with the building, and rigging and erecting into place. It was quite a spectacle in the middle of the city, seeing all that steel flying up in the air.
Solution:
Pacific Steel deployed the project management tools and experienced people to get this tough, stringent specification job done.
